Freelance
Mar 2019 – Present
As a motion graphics designer and art director, I help companies and organisations connect with their audiences and grow their businesses. I collaborate directly with clients or in a supporting role for agencies and studios from around the world.
Based in Redhill, Surrey, I work from my home studio (not just from the kitchen table) and am just a short 35-minute train ride from London for on-site work.
I’m skilled in Adobe After Effects and Maxon Cinema 4D with Redshift and X-Particles, along with extensive experience using the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite, including Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with a number of high-profile brands, including Nike, Microsoft, MasterCard, Cisco, Vauxhall, EasyJet, Subway, and Xbox.
MRM//McCann UK
Jan 2013 – Mar 2019
Having proven my design skills for a number of years and taking a series of training courses to advance my After Effects and Cinema 4D skills, I was promoted to senior designer to focus on the agency’s growing need for motion graphics.
I worked across a large range of projects from YouTube, Facebook and Twitter videos to large format event displays to outdoor digital advertising and retail displays.
Being technically minded I was always looking at how to enhance the software I was using by incorporating plug-ins and developing faster workflows. This included using X-Particles for Cinema 4D and incorporating the third party render engines Octane & Cycles 4D. As well as these I began using Red Giants Trapcode & Magic Bullet Suites for After Effects.
MRM Meteorite
Dec 2011 – Jan 2013
I became studio manager after Meteorite merged with MRM in late 2011. In addition to continuing the work that I was already doing for Meteorite’s clients, I took on further responsibilities and was able to work with a wider range of clients including Intel and Vauxhall. My duties also involved helping resolve any IT issues for the creative department, managing the agency’s font server and maintaining its large format printer.
In addition to my role as studio manager, I also applied my creative abilities to specialist design projects for all of our clients and any new business requirements. Design projects could range from print, emails and digital publishing, through to motion graphics.
Meteorite
May 2008 – Dec 2011
In May 2008, I started working as a senior creative artworker for Meteorite, a large agency based in central London. Due to hard work and my creative, artwork and retouching abilities, I was often asked to work on the agency’s top projects. Clients included Costa Coffee, Expedia, Royal Mail, Post Office, Jumeriah Hotels, BlackBerry, Homebase, Standard Life and World Vision.
At the start of 2009, I took charge of the studio, while continuing to produce design and artwork to an extremely high standard. My suggestions for how we could improve the way projects were moved through the agency saw me promoted to the role of head of studio in 2010.
The new position involved managing the studio team, carrying out staff reviews, setting targets, training junior employees, liaising with client services and trafficking projects through the department to ensure tight deadlines were met without compromising on the quality of the work produced.
J2*
Nov 2006 – Apr 2008
In my time at J2*, I had the privilege of working on some large and important projects for well-known brands, including Oxfam and Donington Park Race Course. During my role as creative artworker, I began developing my retouching skills and started using a Wacom tablet for increased accuracy.
Being part of a larger company taught me how to work well in a team environment and improved my communication skills. I also gained valuable experience in handling requests from account handlers, often to very tight deadlines.
Origin 1
May 2003 – Oct 2006
In 2003 I began working for Origin 1. As one of just three employees at the firm, I played an integral part in the running of the business and took on a wide range of responsibilities. This provided me with a great opportunity to build on my existing skills and develop new ones.
I handled all of Origin 1’s artwork and my role involved liaising with printers and signage companies to make sure all the work was created accurately. During my time with the company, I worked on numerous projects for the dentistry industry, promoting treatments like tooth whitening and veneers. For these projects, I produced original concepts and designs for logos, stationery and marketing material as well as internal and external shop signage. I also produced a number of luxury brochures for property developers in the London area. This involved creating highly technical vector floor and site plans in a variety of styles.
I was also responsible for managing the backup systems, filing paperwork and ordering stationery supplies. This gave me a good understanding of basic methods used in a successful company.
Colne Press
Apr 2001 – Apr 2003
During my final year of college studying typographic design, I secured a job as a Designer in the design studio of a printing firm. I worked around my studies, producing creative designs and preparing artwork for the printing process.
My time working at a printers gave me a valuable and solid foundation to my career, helping me develop a thorough understanding of artwork and the print process.

04
Whilst my main focus for the past 10+ years has been motion graphics and animation, I have a long and varied career in design working within the marketing and advertising industries.
Originally employed in print and production following an education in typographic design, I developed a wide range of skills working across numerous areas of design and artwork, as well as a keen eye for detail.
As the industry evolved and shifted towards digital design, I became heavily involved with producing web and email content which soon led to an interest in developing digital publications and magazines for iPads and tablet devices. This gave me my first taste of motion graphics as I quickly had to learn on the job how to create moving image and animation content and I was instantly hooked!
After multiple training programmes in After Effects and Cinema 4D and numerous courses from School of Motion I transitioned to a fully fledged motion graphics designer and I haven't looked back!
Being in the motion graphics field requires me to be fast and adaptable with multiple areas of expertise that changes from project to project. I have experience working across Product Videos, Explainer Videos, Social Media Posts, Corporate & Internal Animations, TV & Broadcast Packages, Large Format Displays, Event Videos, User Interface Graphics, Visual Effects, Title Sequences, Character Animation across 2D & 3D Animation.
School of Motion courses I have taken include: Animation Bootcamp, Expression Session, VFX for Motion, Illustration for Motion, Cinema 4D Ascent and Advanced Motion Methods.
